's an unusual piece from PARKER. It is a combination inkwell, pen stand, memo pad holder and pin & pen tray. As can be seen in the inset photo, the stand is impressed PARKER DUOFOLD on the vertical front. This mark is shown as an inset in the base photo at the approximate actual position on the front face. I was fooled the appearance of this base... while the stand has a nice dark bronzed appearance and appears to be a bronze casting, it is in fact a casting made of a composite material of some unknown type and finished with a fine bronzy patina. The piece is 13" x 7" x 2" and has pretty embossed leaves around the upper corners and a criss-crossed design on the reverse vertical side. The inkwell side is missing its cap and the large inkwell itself is made of a different material (as can be seen in the underside photo) which looks like asphalt or other similar material. The pen holder side has a ball and socket arrangement for pen orientation, but has no pen socket screwed to it. These were probably sold separately as part of the Duofold Sr set which could be used as a desk or pocket pen. T are two metal posts to hold a tear-off memo pad. The front has recessed area to hold assorted desk items including a long tray in front for pens. T are no chips or cracks and aside from the missing inkwell lid.. this is an attractive desk addition.
