Parker Magenta Moire Ringtop ** Lucky Curve Nib ** Fine/Medium FLEX This listing is for another very nice, very flexible ringtop pen. These pastel Parker's are pretty elusive in general, but this is also probably the most impressive of the ones I have listed. The surface of the pen has no scratches or signs of wear, and the deep magenta on the barrel is only the slightest bit darker than the color on the cap. ( Darkening of the barrels in pens made out of celluloid is a chemical reaction with the rubber sac) but the pictures are pretty accurate so you can hopefully see that t hasn't been much of a shift.The Lucky Curve imprint on the side of the barrel is also very much t The letters are clean, crisp and very legible. I used a white grease pencil so it would show up in the pictures; I think this color scares my camera. Overall, the pen seems to have been treated well inside and out--the button filler was also in-tact. Because it was so nice, I didn't want to take any chances and sent out to be professionally restored. Everything has now been put back into fully working order, it fills wonderfully, writes wonderfully and puts down a very lovely flexible line. As far as the nib goes, t is one thing I did happen to see. Had I been aware of it before, I most likely would have responded differently (I revert to being over-cautious, even though these things are older than me and still around because they were made really well.) But, since I'd had it filled up, had no problems writing with it--took it back out, filled it back up, wrote with it again, and still didn't have any problems I figured I could go ahead with the listing--just making sure to make note of what I saw. T is a very tiny hairline crack in very bottom part. It is extremely difficult to see and apparently has managed to evade a few people. The gold is so smooth and clean that it falls right into the curve of the metal and blends in with the way it reflects the light. I didn't even see it until I had already started uploading pictures, and I went back through the pictures but it is so small that you can't make it out in any of them--even the close up ones (that funky black line in the nib picture is a reflection of the side of a softbox.) So as much as I hate it being a tiny bit damaged, I am VERY glad that I managed to catch it in time to mention it. Because I did see it, I am also going to include another flex Waterman's #2 nib along with the pen when it ships out. I know it isn't the same--and I wish I had a Parker nib that I could send in its place. Still, as much as I doubt anything will happen, if the new owner does decide to send it out to make that repair, that extra nib could, at the very least, help cover a little bit of the cost if they sent it to a repairperson willing to accept a trade. I havehappily shipped overseas in the past--and only hesitated this time because of the rate increase. I did not want to charge a lot for shipping, and t are a few things that seem to factor in. I do make a point to pack very securely, which often leads to bulkier packages (mainly in size, not so much weight.) I also insure everything thoroughly and always choose the fastest option available for the most reasonable amount. With the packages I have sent in the past--international or otherwise--I have shipped right away and provided as much information as I could in terms of tracking and reference. I do try to stay open and be t in case t is any problem or anything else. I plan to do the same regardless, so if the increase in charges are not an issue you are certainly welcome to bid!
