Offered for bids is this circa 1941 Parker Duofold Vacumatic fountain pen in the hard to find, but beautiful, green/gold vertical stripe design. Parker is a cornerstone for fountain pen collecting because of the variety of colors, designs, models, filling systems and nib grades. These pens come from the era of fountain pens w beautiful materials and colors were the order of the day and this fountain pen/pencil set is a perfect example of that - the color of this pen is STUNNING and the pictures don't do this set justice! The Vacumatic line came is several different levels of value and this model was unusual because, while it utilized the famous Vacumatic filling system, the body of the pen was similar in appearance to the Major and Maxima Vacumatics. This model pen marked the the re-introduction of, and end to, Parker's popular Duofold line that was produced two decades earlier. It was then reitroduced again in the 1980's. This design was offered in three colors of vertical stripe: burgundy/pearl, blue/pearl and green/golden pearl stripes. Many collectors think the green/gold stripe design is the most difficult to find. This also represents one of the few Parker models that did not have the traditional arrow clip but did retain the "Blue Diamond". The pen has a date code of "1".
