PARKER "DUO-TONE" **VERY VERY RARE** C~1939 FOUNTAIN PEN SET Up for bid is this very very rare hard to almost impossible to find Parker "Duo-Tone" fountain pen set. These pens come in a Jet Black and silver cap finishes. ****An interesting addition to the parkette family was the jet black DUO-TONE. This also was a lever filler. It sported the Parkette arrow clip, a Parkette nib but had a metal cap in either silver or gold color. It was offered as a one size pen with a Visiometer and as pencil. The Duotone predates both the Parker "51" and the Imperial Vacumatics, making it in fact the first Parker pen with a Parker cap (although there had been all-metal pens earlier). The Duo-Tone was never a hit and it was soon discontinued. The Duo-Tone is considered rather rare*** , Gold nib is stamped, Duo-Tone, Made In USA, 28. Both pens have a name engraved on them. The fountain pen draws and holds water, the matching pencil also works. It seems to me that these pens were never used, but engraved names were attempted to be removed. There are no dings on caps just scuff markings by engraved names. A good buffing may remove these markings. The imprint on the barrels states, Duo-Tone, Made by Parker U.S.A.
