ASA - Classified Intell US Army Security Agency - Radio Research Patch - Shoulder Patch - Extremely rare. 407th RRD The 407th Radio Research Detachment was a mechanised Army Security Agency Unit that operated within the DMZ in search of Enemy Radio transmissions for relay to aircraft operating in the area in order to neutralise enemy and their equipment. Operating within the DeMilitarized Zone the 407th had one of the most dangerous continuous missions of the ASA units operating in Vietnam. The operated from numerous fire bases along highway 9 and the DMZ. On the 30th of March 1972, elements of the 407th RRD, located at 'Fire Base Sarge' came under attack by Viet Cong forces losing two operatives, KIA. They were to be the last ASA Combat Fatalities of the Vietnam War.
