Offered for a 7-Day, NO RESERVE auction is this wonderful, guaranteed original & authentic patented adjustable piano stool by Joshua Briggs of Peterboro, NH, circa 1866. This piece is Victoriana is in great condition for its age, retaining a good deal of its original finish on the turned wooden column, and all of its original finish on the underside of the claw footed cast iron base. If you love high Victorian style, then this patented adjustable piano stool has it all, right down to its original paper label under the wooden seat. Check out the detail on the cast iron base - it's awesome! Briggs proudly displayed his patented piano stool in the 1876 Centennial in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, so his talent as a craftsperson was well-known before that time, especially in New Hampshire. This original Joshua Briggs patented, adjustable piano stool measures 16" to the top of the wooden column area, while the stem & seat measure 11.75" long. The round, upholstered seat area measures 14" in diameter while the claw foot base measures 12" wide. Fully extended, this piano seat & base measures appx. 25" tall. As noted, this 1866/67 patented piano stool is in Excellent Original Condition . T is one split under the seat (seam) that has been reglued and is perfectly stable, and that is it. I am really amazed at the condition of this piece given its age and frequent useage. The cast iron support under the seat is clearly marked and retains essentially all of its original cast iron finish. If you love early patented items, especially those by New England craftsmen in the early to mid 1800's, then you will absolutely love this piece - I guarantee it!
