The Horse" a.k.a. "Montana" Original 1985 Serigraph, Commemorative #13 By Patrick Nagel (American 1945-1984) e 24" x 36" This serigraph was published by Mirage Editions as the thirteenth in their posthumous commemorative series of serigraphs published in the mid-1980's. Of this series "The Horse" is the most sought-after and hard to find. It depicts a signature Nagel femme fatale juxtaposed with a powerful image of a horse's head. During his too-brief lifespan, Patrick Nagel created hundreds of pictures on board, paper, and canvas, most emphasizing the grace and beauty of the female form. His figures usually have black hair, bright white skin, full-lipped mouths, and distinctive eyes. This print is in Near Mint condition with very minor wear, and has never been framed. T are known to be a number of forged reprints of Nagel's work in circulation; however, I can vouch for the absolute authenticity of this serigraph. This print was purchased from Mirage Editions, soon after it was made, by the owner of La Belle Epoque Gallery in Los Angeles; who in turn consigned it to me after he retired from the business.
