Images A stunning late C19th oil on canvas in a superb museum quality gilt gesso frame, attributed to the Scottish artist Patrick William Adam. Measuring 24in x 20in, with overall measurements at 34in x 24in in its imposing gilt frame, the painting is in good need of a professional clean as it has rather a lot of yellowing varnish on it. The canvas has the name Patrick Adam inscribed in old ink on the reverse and the frame is inscribed Patrick W Adam RSA. I can't find a signature on the painting itself but without removing the dirt and varnish its difficult to say whether it is signed. The magnificent gilt Victorian frame has a 5in moulding (7in in the corners) and is in very good condition. I would guess that the frame is worth £200 on its own. This painting may be one of the winter landscapes referred to below, painted in 1896/7. The painting comes from a house clearance from a large London House. PATRICK WILLIAM ADAM RSA 1854 - 1929 Born in Edinburgh, Patrick William Adam was best known for his interiors,
