ca 1870s, with large spread-winged eagle with arch of 13 stars above, eagle is clutching U.S. flag on staff with laurel branches above a group of crossed flags from left to right and top to bottom they are Mexico, Imperial Japan, Great Briton, Belgium France And Tromelin. Tromelin is an island of the coast of South Africa approximately 2.5` long with population of 0, except the occasional visiting scientists, but it has its own flag. Between the flags is a pair of crossed hands and below this is a woodblock print of Washington crossing the Delaware, flanked by 2 cdv albumen portraits, one of a Union soldier, with embroidered frame like surrounds, all on navy blue ground, 20` x 23`, matted and framed 28.7` x 31.7`.
