PATRON SAINTS OF ANIMALS BRACELET Many saints are linked with animals, either because of their nature, e.g. the Gospel writer Luke's symbol is the ox, because his gospel is said to be the most down to earth; or because they were fed or attended by animals. Others enjoy a closer relationship, serving as patrons and protectors of animals. St. Francis is best known for his abiding love of animals and the wonderful stories told of his interactions with them. St. Anthony Abbot is also a general patron of animals, but I was unable to find any details about him beyond his love of animals. I don't have animal charms to match all of these, St. Blaise is paired with a bear, St. Germaine with a heart, St. Patrick with a chalice, St. Martin of Tours with a horse, St. Martin of Porres with a puppy dog, St. Roch with a greyhound, and St. Francis with a flying bird. I also have a St. Gertrude, patron saint of cats, read more
