You are bidding on a lidded form by renowned sculptor and potter Paul Dresang. (It was featureed in a 1999 exhibition at the Ferrin Gallery in Massachusetts.) DESCRIPTION: Masterful details abound on this lovely tenmoku glazed work. A squat bellied body sits upon artfully carved legs (created by wavy cuts to the foot.) A domed lid rests between two nicely sized and placed side handles. The piece measures 5âe x 6âe x 6âe and is in mint condition- no chips, cracks or repairs. It is stamped by the potter. This is a no reserve auction. ABOUT PAUL DRESANG: Paul Dresang was born in 1948 in Appleton, Wisconsin. He studied at the University of Wisconsin prior to earning his MFA under Warren MacKenzie at the University of Minnesota (1974). Working in stoneware and porcelain, Dresang moves with seeming ease between the worlds of sculptural art and functional pottery- and his work is avidly pursued by collectors in both arenas. Dresang pieces are included in the permanent collections of many prestigious museums including the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Renwick Gallery at the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, DC, and the Mint Museum of Craft and Design in Charlotte, NC.
