Paul Jacoulet (1896-1960) was a French-born Japanese printmaker. He is well-known and these small woodblocks were formerly greeting cards and are saught after by collectors. These were framed in 1946 in wood and silk. Colors are still vibrant and I have 4 of them. One was gently unframed to verify authenticity. Assume the rest are the same. Estimated value each: $150-200. Will ship within 48 hours of receipt of PAYPAL funds. And with 48 hours of money order or cashiers check clearing the bank.Feel free to email me with questions. Insurance is required on all shipping of items over $100.00. 1.Les Jade, Chinoise 2.Chagrins d'Amour 3.Le Nid, Coree---this one has cracked glass, but the print is undamaged. 4.Nuit de Neige, Coree-this one was gently unframed to verify authenticity- greeting card pieces under the print.
More information for my potential buyers: Jacoulet's surimono prints were produced in large unlimited editions for use as inexpensive souvenirs or holiday cards. Today, many of these small designs are difficult to find and are sought after by Jacoulet collectors.( Japanese Art collector Website information) Original Cards were 4"x6" and it does not appear that these have been trimmed any smaller. The actual print on the one that I examined conforms to this original measurement. In fact mine are 4.25 inches instead of 4. Also these were professionally framed in Yokohama in the mid 40's. I have packed these very carefully so that they will arrive at your location undamaged. They are ready to go as soon as payment is received! Good Luck to those of you bidding and watching!
