PRE-1966 DESIGN PARLOPHONE DEMO LABEL, A WHITE BACKGROUND WITH A LARGE RED 'A' ON THE A-SIDE, WITH THE TEXT; "Demonstration Record" & Not For Sale" PRINTED IN BLACK ON BOTH SIDES. BEING 1966 & 1968 Lennon/McCartney COMPOSITIONS, THERE IS EVEN "Northern Songs Ltd." ON BOTH SIDES, IN THE FAMILIAR POSITION ON 60's STANDARD SINGLES AND DEMO'S,THE ONLY CONCESSION TO 1990 IS THE "MPL Comminications" CREDIT AND JUGGLING MAN LOGO. '(P) 1990' IS THE PUBLICATION YEAR. EVEN THE RELEASE DATE ABOVE THE CENTRE HOLE MIRRORED THE 1960'S PARLOPHONE DEMO FORMAT; "Brit. (9. 10. 1990)" PARLOPHONE: R 6271. MAITRIX: R 6271 A - 1U - 1 - 1 / R 6271 B - 1U - 1 - 1 As expected from any genuine 'Demo/ Advance/ Promo' EMI single, the above coded 6 o'clock stampings in the run-out grooves are a 'No.1' record pressed from the very first mother.' That applies to both sides, so this is the very first record pressed and only sent to radio DJ's and reviewers etc. 'Promoting and 'Demonstrating' a new single are one and the same, totally unlike a 'Factory Sample', unless the labels have "Demo" or "Promo" printed, they are later standard presed records with stickers and NOT pressed in advance. Records with 'Factory Samples' stickers cannot possibly be by definition of their purpose alone. Right now certain regular ebay record sellers are sticking fake 'Factory Sample' onto records to con buyers into believing they have more value than standard copies, which they are, only now devalued to zero because of the counterfeit stickers. One of the worst culprits has even written a 'Factory Sample' record is a 'Test Pressing,' unbelievable deceit! Here is the truth, straight forward enough, a 'Test Pressing' was the very first record made, the first time vinyl was mastered from the Master Tapes, standard vinyl was positively not pressed yet. If all was satisfactory then the Demo's / Promo's like this were pressed, then came the standard vinyl with....standard labels, the 'Factory Samples' stickers were stuck onto those standard labels....on the standard records. No way could they be remotely considered to be 'Advance/Promo/ Demo/records, as for 'Test Pressings', that is nothing but discraceful deceit with the sole intention of conning a buyer. Then anyone using counterfeit photo copies of 'Factory Samples' is hardly honest or trustworthy, of course they target Beatles and solo records, so the sellers are very easily identified, if only by a ridiculous amount they have sold and are currently selling! Back to authenticity, had this record been released in the 1960's and 1970's, the above maitrix has the equivilent of 'G 1 / G 1.' UNUSUALLY FOR A DEMO, A CUSTOM PRINTED DIE-CUT CENTRE SLEEVE WAS MADE, A GLOSSY PAPER REPRO OF OF A 1960's GREEN & WHITE PARLOPHONE SLEEVE, WHAT ELSE FOR A DEMO WITH TWO BEATLES SONGS? Unlike the disgraceful counterfeit 1960's Parlophone and Apple 7" sleeves infecting ebay, this was indeed custom made in 1990 for the Demo label to look 'authentic' inside, if with some text differences!
