PRINTED ABOVE THE CENTRE HOLE ON BOTH SIDES IN SILVER PRINTING: FOR PROMOTIONAL USE ONLY NOT FOR SALE MAITRIX: RDJ 6118 A - 2U - 1 - 1 - 1 / RDJ 6118 B - 1U - 1 - 1 - ? As expected from any genuine 'Demo/ Advance/ Promo' EMI single, the above coded 6 o'clock stampings in the run-out grooves are a 'No.1 record pressed from the very first mother.' That applies to both sides, so this is the very first record pressed and only sent to radio DJ's, as the suffix of the catalogue and maitrixes clearly state. 'Promoting and 'Demonstrating' a new single are one and the same, unlike 'Factory Samples', unless the labels have "Demo" or "Promo" printed, they are standard records, NOT pressed in advance and as in this case, specifically given a different mix to the standard singles. Something records with 'Factory Samples' stickers cannot possibly have by definition of their purpose alone. UNUSUALLY FOR A PROMO, A CUSTOM PRINTED DIE-CUT CENTRE INNER SLEEVE WAS MADE, THE ARTWORK ON THE STANDARD 7" PICTURE SLEEVES, THE PICTURE DISCS AND THE 12" VERSIONS WAS NOT COMPLETED YET. ONLY THE A-SIDE TITLE, "Spies Like Us", WAS PRINTED INSIDE A BOX IN BLACK PRINT ON BOTH SIDES OF A WHITE SLEEVE. UNUSED AND UNSPLIT, WITH A RECORD IMPRESSION RELATED CREASE TOP LEFT AND SOME SOME AGEING TO THE ABSORBANT SOFT PAPER AND THE FAINTEST TRACE OF A REMOVED INDEXING STICKER. THE SLEEVE IS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE RECORD WAS ONLY PLAYED ONCE, THE MATT BLACK PARLOPHONE LABELS ONLY HAVE THE FAINTEST SPINDLE TRACES OF THAT ONE PLAY. ANY HANDLING WISPS ARE NEAR INVISIBLE, WITH UNBLEMISHED LABELS, MY PLAY JUST NOW REVEALED PERFECT SOUND QUALITY FROM A BEAUTIFUL RECORD. THERE IS NO NEED TO REPLAY IT WITH BOTH TRACKS SOUNDING ABSOLUTELY STUNNING AND LACKING IN ANY SURFACE SOUND ETC. JUST GIVE SOME BACKGROUND DETAILS AFTER GRADING THIS AS NEAR MINT. Paul was writing music for film soundtracks way back in the 1960's as a Beatle and frequently enjoyed supplying songs for films ever since, the sheer quality of them saw singles released and "Spies Like Us" was no exception.
