Description: Offered here is a fantastic desk and matching chair designed by Paul McCobb and manufactured by the Calvin Group of Grand Rapids. One of the premier designers of the 50s and 60s and highly sought after. Perfect for your mid century modern atomic ranch. This particular desk strongly typifies the era. Made of solid mahogany and veneers. The desk features three drawers on the right side with solid brass drawer pulls and leg supports. The bottom drawer is a deep file drawer on a roller tracks for smooth operation. The top two drawers are shallow in depth and the top drawer has the metal tag that identifies it as a McCobb design for Calvin. An innovative space saver for the smaller ranch houses of the time. Finished on the back side so it can "float" in the middle of a room. The matching chair features a solid mahogany space age frame with very angular lines. The arms have a curved recess in the tops to rest your arms in. The orange velvet upholstery is typical of the era but does not appear to be original. Great high end modern style. Highly practical and functional to use as a computer desk. Solid and ready for years of use . Condition: Condition is very good vintage. Original finish is very good with some light wear. Some light scuffs to the top commensurate with age. Usable as is or have the top refinished. The brass frame rail stretcher between the two side legs is slightly bent where the side piece meets it, but not real noticeable. Brass stretchers have patined with age. The left chair arm has a small chip to the front edge. Keep in mind all of our items are vintage and any major issues will be pointed out. Please see pictures. No major cracks or breaks. We use Navis pack and ship for larger heavier items like this. You may give them a call at for an exact quote to your location. Options are to your local terminal and you pick it up from there or to your curbside, with or without a liftgate. Will probably run about $225-265 fully insured depending on you location and type of service. Please note ebay requires an amount to be put in the shipping field so the amount shown in the shipping field is an average estimate only. Please contact us before making payment and we will adjust the invoice to reflect your actual cost. We may also be able to ship this Greyhound to your local station. Greyhound will only insure each box for a max of $300 each. The desk and chair would be packed in two separate boxes. Estimate will probably run about $200 including pro packing. Local pickup and delivery available in the greater Kansas City, Mo area.
