Beautiful c.1930's painting by German artist, Paul Otto Haug (1913-1961). Gouache on paper measure 11 x 14 inches; 13 x 16 inches framed. Painting has been removed from frame for examination and does not include frame or matting. Monogrammed lower right. Excellent condition with no damage or restoration.Paul Otto Haug was born in 1913 in Mettingen where he began a painter's apprenticeship . In the 1930s, a training followed at the School of Applied Arts in Stuttgart. Haug's entire life witnnessed the major historical events of the 20th Century and was especially marked by the Second World War. After a head injury in 1942, he was discharged from the army and from 1943 studied at the Art Academy in Stuttgart . However, he was forbidden to exhibit . He then continued his studies in Vienna and received the Austrian citizenship . There he founded the artists group " The Circle " . From 1949 to 1953 his works have been presented in numerous exhibitions. He belonged in 1953 to the participants of the exhibition " Abstract Painting " in Stuttgart. In Esslingen, many of the large two-part mural " The Craftsman " at the Friedrich -Ebert- school is known , the Haug 1955 anfertigte as a commission .
