Up for sale is a hand sculpted glass vase titled "Pavone" by the Venetian master Adriano Dalla Valentina. It stands 11" tall, 8-1/4" wide and 6-1/2" deep. It has cobalt blue rings encircling rings of red, green, sky blue and yellow. In between the oval circles are stretched canes of red and blue interspersed by clear sections and black stripes. The pictures do not do this work of art justice. The pictures are views of the front, side, back and top down. I've also included part of the Gotthelf's Gallery brochure advertising the piece. As you can see, I paid over $3,000 for this work of art but a recent marriage, cramped space and too many treasures means some things have to be let go...at a considerable bargain. Pavone is a limited edition of twelve although each piece is a unique work. NOTE: insurance is included in the shipping fee. In 1945 Adriano was born in Murano Italy, the worlds' center of art glass fabrication. Located across the lagoon from Venice, the island of Murano has been a glassworks mecca for almost one thousand years. T, glassmaking techniques were kept secret for hundreds of years, being passed down from generation to generation. At the early age of ten, Dalla Valentina began working in one of Murano's premier glass studios. For fourteen years he studied under various "Maestros", absorbing numerous glassmaking techniques. At the age of 24 Adriano went on to form is own glass studio named Linea Valentina. In te following years Adriano distinguished himself by his commitment to the traditional techniques of the trade. He also became well known for his bright colors, patterns, and exceptional technical skill. Today Adriano continues to create glass that is extraordinary, even by Murano's standards. His patterns range from plaid to organic, and each piece embodies fluidity and movement. The colors are strikingly bold and often range from subtle earth tones to glowing lava reds and cool cobalt blues. Currently Valentina is crafting pieces in limited editions of twelve. He is involved in every aspect fo the production of his work, from initially mixing the batch of glass to the final forming of the piece itself.
