An HMV Model PBC 78rpm gramophone with exhibition sounbox good working and cosmetic condition. This early portable gramophone dates from about 1925 and was one of the very first HMV portables to be covered in the familiar black rexine cloth. To reduce both the size and the weight, the motorboard was hinged so that it lowered into the case when the lid was closed. All parts are original. The single spring motor plays more than one side of a 78 rpm record without slowing down. The motor board has two sunken recesses with clips for storing needle tins. A few very minor areas of wear to the rexineThe Exhibition soundbox rubber fitting on the back section needs replacing and the carrying handle is missing as clearly seen in photographs 8 and 11. The area behind the winding handle storage has some rubbing to the rexine cloth as seen in image 10.The motor board has two sunken recesses with clips for storing needle tins.
