This rare set of Ekco knives called "Arrowhead" appears to be a predecessor of the Cutco Cutlery of today. This thesis comes from my experience as both a successful Cutco salesman and manager in the late 50's as well as a major chainstore housewares buyer in the 60's and 70's. Follow me along with this: In the mid-50's, Cutco, Wearever and Kensingtonware were the specialty sales divisions of Ekco Housewares with a tie with Alcoa. The National Sales Manager was for Cutco was H.C. Gardner. Years later, when I left being a buyer and became a manufacturer's representative, I represented Ekco flatware for California, and H. C. Gardner was Ekco's National Sales Manager. The curved "Lamb" Handle was introduced by Cutco in late 1956. This Ekco Arrowhead set has an early version of the handle - not quite the same, but almost. The material is a highly polished hardwood with the full tang and the 3 rivets. The material looks like 18/8 stainless or whatever Cutco is. The butcher knife and ham/bread slicer is almost identical to the 1950's Cutco stamping. 4 or the five knives have the concave edge. The knives are marked Ekco Arrowhead and made in America.
