Pearl Brass Free Floating Snare Drum - 14" x 6.5" Up for auction is another one of my great snares - this time a 14" x 6.5" Free Floating Brass shell by Pearl. A great sounding drum that I have used successfully on a recording session and live. As you would expect from Brass, an aggressive loud sound more suited to Rock & the like although it can be quite sensitive with plenty of sustain due to Pearl's ingenious Free Floating cradle system. This also allows you to change the shell to whatever you like as none of the hardware is physically attached to the shell! Not sure of it's age as I acquired it Second hand but it is in great condition with a minimal amount of pitting on the shell - I am sure this could be cleaned off with a bit of elbow grease if that's your persuasion but it's never bothered me as it's purely cosmetic. Due to the construction of the snare mechanism, it is one of Pearl's earlier models, probably from the 80's or 90's but I can't be sure. The drum comes fitted with it's original die-cast hoops top & bottom & I have recently fitted a new Evans EC Snare head to the top and it has an Aquarian Classic Clear on the snare side with loads of life left.
