is an excessively scarce carnival glass banana boat shape compote that carries the Lacy Dewdrop pattern. T is some uncertainty as to the maker--most attribute it to the Phoenix Glass company, but others speculate that it may have been made by Westmoreland. Regardless of who made it, this pattern and this piece seldom are offered for sale. This stemmed compote is 6 7/8" tall, is 5 1/4" wide and measures just under 8" long and, as mentioned earlier, this is called a banana boat due to the shape. This is milkglass, with a soft blush of marigold overlay and it is pearlized (that is, iridized) with marvelous pastel colors, mostly pinks and blues, with some yellows and greens. I took lots of pictures so that you can see it from all sides. I find no damage; no cracks, chips, heat checks or repairs. Like all glass made at the time, this piece will exhibit the normal, minor, factory made production flaws and imperfections, but t is nothing of particular note. The authors of the Standard Ency. of Carnival Glass assign a value of $350 to this piece and call all pieces in this pattern scarce to rare. I know in looking up auction results for the past few years, I could find only three as having sold, so they surely do not show up with any frequency.
