Woven of the finest wool by Pendleton Woolen Mills, these blankets highlight the colors and traditions of the Southwest. This Navajo Trail blanket is pre-owned but not used. All the blankets in the series were designed by Native American artist, Ramona Sakiestewa. They were made exclusively for Dewey Trading Company by Pendleton Woolen Mills. They are 82% pure wool / 18% cotton, 64" x 80". Dry Clean Only. Santa Fe Trail: The Santa Fe Trail blanket combines classic Pueblo elements from an early Pendleton design and honors the tradition of trade routes in the American west. Celebrate the 175th Anniversary of the Santa Fe Trail with the inaugural blanket of the series Santa Fe Trail honors the tradition of trade routes in the United States. The designer Native American artist Ramona Sakiestewa chose a classic element from an early Pendleton blanket and expanded it with her aesthetic vocabulary into an eloquent concert of rust gold turquoise cream brown and tan hues. Chihuahua Trail: Honoring the Hispanic heritage of the Camino Real based on a Saltillo serape with concentric diamonds and 7 Vallero stars. Chihuahua Trail celebrates the part of El Camino Real (The Royal Road) that linked Santa Fe and Chihuahua conveying a diversity of goods whose influence is evidenced today in crafts once created to serve practical needs and now regarded as art. Expressing remembrances of life pottery and textiles served as utilitarian items for cooking storage clothing and ceremonial uses. Navajo Trail: In 1896 in his Gallup New Mexico trading post C.N. Cotton introduced Pendleton blankets to the Southwest. At first he sold only two staples; Arbuckles Coffee (The Coffee That Won the West) and Pendleton Indian Robes. Navajo Trail was inspired by transitional eyedazzlers and pays tribute to the Navajo as weavers and honors the People Who Walk in Beauty. Iron Horse Trail: Resoundingly industrial yet natural like lightning the arrival of the railroad changed the language of American commerce and culture. When the Atchison Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad supplanted the Santa Fe Trail in the late 19th century among the bounty conveyed from the East was highly prized Germantown yarn which was given to skilled Navajo weavers in the region.
