Each blanket in the series is offered in individual auctions. Weaving began in the America Southwest in 700 AD. Celebrate the beauty of our Native American heritage with these 6 trade blankets inspired by national monuments in Arizona or New Mexico and woven with traditional Indian designs. Each blanket is 100% wool and measures 64 x 80 inches. They were produced on jacquard looms at the Scalamandre Mill in New York . A mill known for their fine custom work and which has produced fabrics and wall coverings for the White House. About the artist: Ramona Sakiestewa is an accomplished artist and business woman. She was selected as the head interior designer for the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian and was the first Native American to actually design a Pendleton blanket. Beginning in 1991, she designed the Southwest Trails series of blankets for Pendleton which included the Santa Fe Trail , The Chihuahua Trail, The Hopi Trail, The Navajo Trail and the Iron Trail.
