Pennsylvania Colonial Currency ThreePence April 10, 1777 You are bidding on a Revolutionary War- era three-pence note of Colonial Currency, issued on April 10, 1777 in Pennsylvania, in support of the army. This is the lowest denomination note in the series of notes issued on this date. The front of this note was printed using Plate A, which has different border cuts than notes from the other two plates used for this issue. It is the first issue to carry the arms of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, including a ship, a plow, and bundles of wheat. The denomination is indicated by the single dot in the lower left corner of the coat of arms. The note has only one signature. “To counterfeit is DEATH” is printed on the reverse, along with the designation of John Dunlap as printer, the year of issue, and the denomination is printed twice. The edges are in reasonably good condition, but one corner is missing and the others are rounded. There is some folding-related wear. Please check the scans carefully.
