The U. S. Civil War era holster you are viewing was most likely for the 1860 Colt Army Percussion Revolver. This pistol was popular and a great number were in use by the Federal Troops. It is a left-hand draw and the leather is in surprisingly good condition. It has a couple of issues - the stitching at the barrel end is open -- probably to accomodate a larger pistol, and the first hole in the tether strap is split. This holster was manufactured by the E. Gaylord company in Chicopee, Massachusetts and most likely was in service with the Union Forces. Chicopee was and still is an industriaI town located on the Connecticut River. This item is not a reproduction, but an original and in original condition. It could be restored if so desired. A nice collectible from a very ugly war. Thanks for your interest -- No reserve.
