A traditional percussion instrument from Africa. Made of a calabash gourd. The dried seeds inside the hardened gourd make a good shaker. The round part is carved with pictures of the sun and moon. The whole shaker is just over 8 inches long (20 cm), including the handle. The handle is wooden, and the mesh over the outside is threaded with what look like some sort of dried beans (or possibly nuts?). Please note: this is a musical instrument, NOT a baby's rattle. It is NOT suitable for small children.
