An original pencil signed etching of the Clock Tower in the city of Rouen, France. The artist is PERCY JAMES WESTWOOD who was born in 1878, trained at the Architectural Association and exhibited in the first half of the 20th Century. He lived in London and later Surrey and exhibited at most of the principal galleries, including the Royal Academy. This is a particularly vibrant scene of a bustling street with figures going about their daily business. It is signed in pencil and inscribed with the title in the lower margin. Condition is quite good - this is a nice clean example. There is some minor handling creasing and the odd tiny speck of dirt. There is some old tape residue along the top rear edge and some damp staining in the lefthand margin - well away from the image and will be covered by mounting or could be trimmed away. Size: 10.5 x 3 inches (to plate mark); 14.5 x 7.5 inches (overall) - unframed PAYMENT BY CHEQUE FROM UK BUYERS, PLEASE; PAYPAL ACCEPTED FROM OVERSEAS BUYERS.
