Stuart Twin Launch Steam EnginePlus 3 PublicationsThis Twin Launch Engine was built by my great uncle. He was a WWII airplane mechanic and machinist in Chicago. I'm posting four of his completed Stuart Model live steam engines. He had his own machine shop in his basement. He built models all 25 years of his retirement. This engine was perfectly made in his home. He was a master at what he did. He ran this on air. There isn't any rust, and it works very well. He kept this on a shelf in his library as a piece of art. It is painted cream , and is mounted on finished hardwood . He made cutouts on the bottom so you can see the pistons moving. There is a dot of red permanent marker on 4 spots, so you can track how one of the pistons moves the engine ( you can see it in the pictures ). When my uncle was a teacher, used this as a visual tool to teach his students a lesson about machines. The marker will come off very easily with a touch from a magic eraser. It is my hope that this engine will go to someone who will enjoy it as much as he did.Height: 7 1/2 inches.Width: 3 1/2 inches.Length: 6 1/2 inches.Purchasing the unfinished kit with the casted parts new right now is about $300. This one is completed and has been barely used by an adult."The "Twin Launch" series of vertical steam engines is a popular type for use in model steam boats. read more
