Absolutely gorgeous pair of Tannoy 10" dual concentric HPD 295 Alnico magnet drivers installed in a very nice pair of Tannoy Eaton walnut veneer cabinets. Perfect dark brown grill cloths, with gold round Tannoy emblems The HPDs were the very last of the Tannoy drivers with the better sounding Alnico magnets, until their new Prestige line was introduced. The HPD series was developed to meets the needs of the higher powered transistorized amplifiers The two larger versions used a series of stiffening ribs on the back side of the cone. This 10" version of the HPD does not use them, as can be seen in the photographs of the rear of the drivers.The drivers themselves are practically perfect, with hardly a mark on them. Their surrounds are perfect, as are the frames, magnet covers, and cones, The crossover contouring switches are also perfect, no marks, no noise, and function as they were intended. These speakers sound extremely good, smooth, extended, balanced, with excellent bass, which one would not expect from a smaller enclosure. Many Tannoy affectionados consider the 10" version of the Tannoy driver to be the better sounding when compared to the 15", and 12" versions, although admittedly, they do not have the very deepest bass of the larger drivers, but are instead, very balanced, detailed, and articulate.T is a lot of information read more
