Offered for auction is a nineteenth century pewter chamberstick candle holder marked with a touchmark composed of a central nautical anchor and other components in a stamped oval impression, the likes of which are very typical of eighteenth and some early nineteenth century pewter. The chamberstick itself is made up of components that were cast and/or machined or turned on a metal lathe in the eighteenth or nineteenth century. The pan is six inches wide and the stick is four inches tall, while the finger ring is one and one quarter inches inside diameter. The pewter is not seriously scratched or dented, and t is no pitting or flaking. The surface is a relatively smooth satin gray lustre with only minimal oxidation coloration. is a fine example of nineteenth century pewter made into one of the most utilitarian devices known to the nineteenth century world. Thank you for visiting my auctions, and good luck to you in your bidding.
