Period Signed Dutch Expressionist Still Life Painting Christina Abigael van der Willigen (1850-1931) Currently, I am having my "November Modernist and Abstract Paintings Sale ." Most of these paintings were done by famous and documented artists. All of the paintings are 100% guaranteed, as described. This painting was originally purchased from a major auction house. Christina Abigael van der Willigen has become a very sought after artist by expressionist and still life collectors. Being a female expressionist in the late teens and 1920's, she had to overcome many obstacles. Of course, this was the time when most expressionists were men. Now that we are better educated, we have a better understanding about her contribution for the advancement of female artists. To explain a little more about Christina Abigael van der Willigen's life , I would like to share her biography from "Valk's Lexicon Artists" with you: BIOGRAPHY and REFERENCES: Christina Abigael van der Willigen was born on May 7, 1850 , in Haarlem. She was a pupil of P.F. Van Os. Th. Grabijn, Jacob Smits, EA von Saher, FGW Olde World (1894) of E.Blanc-Garin in Brussels in 1905, The Antwerp Academy (after 1906) and HM Krabbe.
