Up for auction a persian or turkish shamshir sword. The handle is dark wood and the blade is somewhat flexible, the steel is not damascus, i would date it towards the end of 19th century or the beggining of 20th century. The sword is a little shorter than the scabbard, and the scabbard is a little stiff when the sword enters. The blade has no damage, only some dark spots. The scabbard has a very nice chisseled leaf design on the upper low silver part and an engraved geometric design on the steel covering of the lower part. The leather is a little shrunk but in good condition. A good rare sword with a nice feeling and very low start. Measurments (on a straight line) are:42 inches (107cm) with scabbard, and 36,5 inches (92,5cm) the sword alone. No reserve, see my other auctions, i will sell more than 50 ethnographic edged weapons during the next week!
