ORIGINAL Key (Extreme) Animation Drawing of Captain Hook by Wolfgang Reiterman usedin the making of the 1953 Disney feature film, Peter Pan. Also included is the MATCHINGdrawing of the rigging (rope ladder) on which Captain Hook climbs in his pursuit of the elusive Peter Pan. The figure of Captain Hook registers perfectly to the cross-ropes of the ladder drawing, and the drawings match according to the number indication on the Hook drawing, i.e., reg. to A-11. Both drawings are on large field Disney paper, which measure 12 1/2 X 15 inches. The image of Captain Hook is approximately 6 1/2 X 9 1/2 inches.
This drawing of Captain Hook is one of the very best from this scene of animation drawings. I had my choice of any drawings from the complete scene, and this was one of my three favorites out of a few hundred drawings. T were also only about 12 drawings of the rigging, which were cycled through as Hook moved, each rope drawing registering to many different drawings of Hook. This is one of the one sets of drawings w the rope rungs actually register perfectly to the figure of Captain Hook. The drawing of Hook is also an animator's extreme, i.e., one actually drawn by the main animator for the scene, Wolfgang Reiterman. All the extremes from this scene had an "X" in the upper right corner, as apprears on this drawing. It is very unlikely that a better drawing of Captain Hook will appear on the market in the foreseesable future. Both drawings have some signs of handling (primarily to the right of each animation sheet), which is typical of animation drawings since they are flipped back and forth repeatedly by the animators in order to check the fluidity of a figure's movements. Otherwise, they are both very nice; FINE condition. Seller accepts NO E-CHECKS. If payment is made by PERSONAL CHECK, THE ITEM WILL BE HELD FOR 10 DAYS before shipment to allow sufficient time for the check to clear. Payment must be received by seller within 7 days of the close of the auction. Shipping insurance, based on the final auction price, is required, at the buyers' expense. Out of U.S. buyers must pay actual mailing, handling, and insurance expense, based on the location to which item is shipped.
