Matchlessantiques is offering smiths and collectors this heavy duty 80 lb. Blacksmith Post or Leg Vise. This vise was made in Dudley, England by PETER WRIGHT. The name is gone but it compares exactly to other PW vises I have in stock. This vise is all original and completely hand forged. One jaw has been repaired and the jaws do not close perfectly, but that should not hurt anything. Pictures say a thousand words, so please take a real close look. This is a NO RESERVE auction, so don't miss it. NOTE : The 55 lb. anvil dated 1616 IS NOT INCLUDED in this auctionBlacksmith Post Vises, next to Anvils, are one of the most essential blacksmith tools. These vises were designed with a post that stands on the floor. This gives the vise extra strength that is needed when the blacksmith uses hammers to shape his work piece in the vise. Post vises can take the kind of abuse that would send most conventional vises to the scrap pile. This post vise is in excellent working condition. The jaws are in very good condition and close with a little gap on the outer edges of the jaws (see pictures). The screw threads and box are in excellent condition and the spring is good and strong. The handle is straight and heavy. The measurements are: overall length 39", width 21", jaw width 5 1/2", handle length 18 1/2", weight 80 lbs. Satisfaction is guaranteed read more
