Raymond Peynet introduced his "Lovers" cartoon characters in 1942. From 1955 to 1965 he was drawing the courting couple for Rosenthal. This sweet porcelain trinket box would be that vintage. On the cover the young man is peeping into his girlfriend's window, and inside the dish she's standing naked in her bathtub looking very startled. Really a cute little nude. T is a 1 inch series of chips to the right of the girl. (See photo.) The bottom of the dish is marked Rosenthal with the crossed swords and crown,Germany, Kunstabteilung Selb 13 and an illegible number. 2203 is impressed under the glaze. It measures 6'' X 4 1/2'' on top and stands close to 2'' tall in the center.
