PHILADELPHIA STONEWARE JAR Attributed to RICHARD REMMEY Ready to add to your growing collection of quality stoneware is this wonderful 1 Gallon Stoneware Jar from the Philadelphia Area. Made about 1870, this beauty features floral decoration typical of pottery made at the Remmey factory under the supervision of Richard Remmey. The decoration is all freehand and done with strong cobalt blue . It encircles the entire jar. Both sides have a Double Hanging Floral and both handles are accented at the base and underscored with a squiggle line that connects to the side decoration. The light gray clay really makes for a great contrast with the deep cobalt. Great form too with the handles placed low and the neck elongated to a full 1.5". Stands 10" tall. Very Good Condition. Three 3/16" flakes and a 1/2" chip on the inside of the rim. Six flakes on the outside of the rim (1/16" to 1/4"). Two 1/4" flakes on one handle and a narrow 1/2" and a 1/4" flake on the other. Six 1/4" chips at the base. No hairlines, cracks, stains, or repairs. A Philadelphia Jar attributed to the Remmey Factory with Strong Cobalt in Very Good Condition. This beauty ships in a doublebox with full insurance for just $15. Please see our other auctions and ebay store items. Thank you for shopping Doc's Crocks! Duane Watson, Proprietor.
