MODEL, YEAR, FEATURES: Philco released a huge variety of wood cabinet radios in the late depression era, and their Model 41-220 has been a favorite for many. Beautifully grained mahogany cabinet with handle, framed lighted dial with red spinner, grille cloth, contrasting pedestal base and bullet knobs all work together to make this one of the most attractive sets Philco ever made. Here's an excellent example that's just been serviced and detailed, ready to enjoy. Controls are simple Volume and Tuning, and a Band Switch that allows listening to the broadcast AM band as well as Short Wave from 1.6 to 3.3 MHz, which was called the Police Band in that era. This radio uses six "Loktal" tubes that Philco often used on their sets, known for their shiny tops and bases, and a unique locking device to keep them seated. Photos will represent this radio well.CONDITION, SERVICING, PERFORMANCE: The original finish is in exc uniform condition without stains, blotches, or separation, and it's obvious this set was well cared for; even the front panel decals are undisturbed. There's a small abrasion on the front top left corner barely even seen in photos, but disclosed.
