BEAUTIFUL PHILCO PREDICTA SIESTA GOLD MODEL WITH BRIGHT TUBE This Predicta is one you won't see very often, or ever! In 1959, THE SIESTA, was introduced as the Predicta with a "Night Watch" Ideal for Bedrooms"..Automatically turns the set off and on.."the TV that puts itself to sleep and wakes itself up..always on time! AND the 17" picture tube swivels 350 degrees." The sound is from the front with a 6" speaker. The Siestas were offered in beige (by far the most common) and GOLD-that's what this one is! This beautiful set has been electrically and cosmetically enhanced with work done by pros with much experience. The picture tube is better and brighter than the original. It has been replaced with a superbrite model. The paper capacitors and out-of-tolerance resistors have been replaced with new (that are better than the original). Most of the tubes are new. Other preventive measures, such as recoating the high voltage transformer with several coats of insulating materials-have been done. The chassis has been steam-cleaned and t is no dust. The set is shown playing on its own built-in antenna, a rarity within itself. We supply a cable adaptor for watching new shows on either cable or playing the set on a DVD or VCR. Reception-wise, as you can see- this Predicta will pull in the weak stations from the local antenna. See the bright picture the set delivers even directly under bright lights! The brightness, contrast, resolution, and focus this set delivers will impress you-the photos do not do it justice. More on the cosmetics: The pictures tell the story. The cabinet has been repainted in a perfect match of the original. The metal grille has been repainted a glossy white.. Professional brass plating has been done on the picture tube's swivel base and the ornamental brass "arms" The picture tube's lens cover is clear. Even the trim plate at the base of the picture tube has been freshly replated, as well as the end-caps located on the support arms. Even the 5 screws at the rear of the picture tube base are new and brass plated! The beige plastic rear cover of the picture tube has been cleaned and waxed. A lot of effort went into the improvements-the cosmetics were all done from the frame up!.The knobs are excellent, complete, and original. Given the overall condition of this set, you'll enjoy both displaying (and using) this set for years to come! Many of you have bid on our previous sets; this Penthouse Predicta is both RARE and in excellent condition. For more than 2 years, we have been the number one seller of restored Predictas on eBay. And t are fewer Predictas as time goes on. Predictas-COMPLETELY RESTORED-are rare and , tfore, a good investment. This rare set would be great to help complete your collection.
