These Philco radios come along once in a while on Ebay, but this one is a great, working example. Yes, I said working and it does work and anyone who knows these radios is aware the batteries are mercury cells and they are obsolete, but you can get batteries on vintage internet battery sites or camera battery distributers that will work. This is the Philco T50-124 with beautiful genuine leather case in great condition. The radio is a 5 transistor set from 1959 in the ivory/turquoise combination. I love the look of these great radios, because they have been coined the "refrigerator radio" due to the look of the radio cabinet. They were great examples of quality American construction in the early days of transistor radios and famous Philco quality. Take notice of the low production number on the back label and on the chassis, number 782! The genuine cowhide leather case is in great shape with all stitching intact and no wear anywhere. The straps and strap supports are all in great shape as well. All snaps and clasps work fine with no wear. The leather Philco used on this set is top quality and it shows after all of these years. The Philco logo is bright with no gold loss on case. This is a fine example in excellent condition all around.!
