BARONG 1 Each Valiant Trading Company blade is handmade using traditional methods at one of eight manufacturing facilities scattered throughout the Indonesian archipelago. The blades are spring steel or Damascus steel, and the handles and sheaths are composed of natural materials such as buffalo horn, wood and leather. Master knifemaker and proprietor Suwandi Wigunadharma performs all final finish work at his shop and headquarters in Joondalup Australia.The barong is a traditional weapon of the Moro tribesmen in the Southern Philippines. The Moro insurgents will be remembered as the people whose courage and tenacity prompted the US government to discard their 38 cal. revolvers in favor of the more powerful Model 1911 45 ACP. The Barong 1 is a quality, working rendition of the traditional barong with a leaf-shaped, full-convex-ground, polished blade. It remains popular today with martial artists studying the Philippino tradition of knife fighting .
