Up for auction is a Philips N4307 Four track single speed reel to reel tape recorder complete with original microphone. The overall condition is extremely good with only a few very light scratches on the face plate which you cannot see unless the light is in a certain direction. It has taken hours to remove the "goo" residue which is left on these machines after the drive belts have decomposed and it is a really horrible job. The following items have now been replaced and machine performs as it is supposed to. Bare in mind this machine will not "rock" the house down the audio output is only about 3watts maximum from the built in eliptical speaker but it sounded very respectable in the early 1970's and if recording directly from and audio source still sounds good. List of work carried out. Main drive belt replaced Take up belt replaced Flywheel drive replaced Counter belt replaced Rubber mounts replaced New pause brake Take up clutch rebuilt Supply clutch rebuilt Heads cleaned and demagnetised HF bias current checked and correct Switches and controls cleaned This machine is electrically and mechanically excellent and is a joy to own. The cabinet has been cleaned inside and out A 7 inch reel of Philips long play tape is included which was part of the original supply The Philips microphone works well. Thanks for looking and
