You are bidding on a huge ceramic form by widely collected modernist Phillip Maberry. (It was featured in a 2004 exhibition at the Garth Clark Gallery in NYC alongside the work of Henry Varnum Poor and David Regan. The winning bidder will receive the original show pamphlet.) DESCRIPTION: As per Garth Clark, Phillip Maberry is noted for being an unrepentant and “fearless colorist” and a “master of pattern, decoration and ornament.” All of these traits are in evidence on this vibrant and festive exhibition piece. Blues, reds, oranges, greens and yellows flow in and out of one another atop a maze of underlying squiggly black lines (and in and out of the 10 furrows that the potter carved into the bowl form.) The artist allowed just enough of the whiteware clay body to peek through to create a “spiral” that adds another element of visual stimuli to the piece. The bottom is decorated with playful black and white interplay. The piece measures 14 ½” in diameter and stands 2 ½” tall. It is in pristine mint condition- no chips, cracks or repairs- and is signed by the artist on the bottom Winning bidder pays for insured UPS Ground delivery. (International shipping charge is $80.) Payment via PAYPAL is due within seven
