Tested And Working Well This is a Philmore Crystal Radio Set featuring a chocolate Bakelite base and potted Galena Catwhisker Detector. This set is complete with its glass dome (not plastic). Itâe(tm)s hard to find a set with its glass dome, as they generally have become lost or broken after 60 or 70 years. The terminals for antenna, ground, and phones are thumbscrew style which predate the fahnestock style Philmore would use in the 1950âe(tm)s. Size is 5 ¾âe x 4âe x 2 ½âe It appears that the cardboard bottom has been replaced and glued into place. T is minor surface rust on the slider arm and on the terminal screws.(see photos) T is a blemish on the Bakelite panel, shown clearly in one or more photos. T are no chips or cracks in the Bakelite base or in the glass dome. The Brandes âeoeSuperiorâe high impedance headphones are excellent with no chips or cracks in the ear cups. Inside, they are rust free. The headband and the cloth covering on the cord are excellent with no fraying. This set is tested and working fine on my 30 foot attic antenna. I have also used a metal window frame, heating vent, and yes, bedsprings, as an antenna. T are plenty of hot spots on the galena crystal. All you need to do is connect an antenna, ground, and youâe(tm)re on the air. I make every attempt to describe items completely and accurately, and to show any flaws clearly in the photographs.
