I'm most pleased to offer this vintage PHOENIX INDUSTRIAL STRENGTH MACHINE that includes the case so you have flatbed sewing in one mighty portable. A made in Germany straight stitch machine that rivals the best Pfaff, Singer and Necchi machines. I fitted this Phoenix 250 with a # 125 needle[ #21 equivalent ] and threaded it with Coates and Clark #69 nylon upholstery thread and easily sewed through 5 layers of the upholstery leather as shown in the photo. The machine comes with a .9 amp. motor, full reverse, drop feed dogs, and variable stitch length. I don't know of any domestic sewing machine that so approximates an industrial one with it's large stitch length/reverse lever, heavy duty thread guides, large foot and shuttle screws and big easily operated drop feed lever. These features make it very user friendly and the low shank allows use of many other manufacturer's attachments. I've cleaned the motor commutator, brushes have 1/2 length, and contacts are cleaned for optimum operation. I've cleaned and serviced all internals, too. The denser stitching in the photo is both forward and reverse in the same row. Machine sews without complaint with a great balanced lock stitch-not too tight-not too loose.
