1940s (WWII period) family/military snapshot photo album. Wood covers w/the carved wooden word "NAVY" applied to the front. First 1/2 of album is missing pics but, only contains family photos (some are identified). The second 1/2 of the album contains circa 165 photos all relating to Hawaii and, in particular,Honolulu. Images of: Diamond Head with its pristine beaches and surfers, Downtown Honolulu, the Aloha Tower (which today, is dwarfed by skyscapers and malls but, at one time, was the tallest building in Honolulu), the U.S.Postal Office (also known as the Custom House and the Court House), the Kamehameha Statue, Ali'iolani Hale, Iolani Palace, the Territorial Office Building plus numerous photos of sailors, natives and (the usual) tourist snaps. None of the Hawaii photos are identified (I researched the buildings and will include my printouts of the modern views of the historic buildings if the winning bidder so desires). Please feel free to contact me for further info. This is a rare find! Condition of album is VG .. condition of the images is VG to EX. N.B. Shipping is calculated, at the close of the auction, on the basis of the winning bidders mailing address. Any fees that appear before then are not to be considered. Uninsured purchases are the sole responsibility of the buyer. N.B.B. I accept personal checks, money orders
