PHOTO ALBUM OF ST. TSE Over 125 Actual untouched photos of St. Tse Abundant history of each photo which helps bring it to life! For anyone with a special devotion to St. Tse, this book will be a special treasure. After seeing it, you can't help but feeling closer to our friend in heaven. Since this book has been out of print for years, it is very difficult to find. This one is in excellent condition and has the dustjacket. From the inside cover which shows a diagram of the convent and ground of the Carmel of Lisieux to the last photo showing St. Tse in death, you will find many glimpses into the life of a great Saint. I counted over 125 pictures (many showing extreme closeups in order to capture her expressions). T is also a description of each picture telling how it was taken, who took the photograph (her sister Celine in most cases), and other very interesting details. is a brief description of the different sections of the book: PHOTOGRAPHY IN A CARMELITE CONVENT - Describes in fascinating detail just how the photographs happened to be taken in a cloistered convent of nuns (something not usually done!). A SMILING AND EXPRESSIVE FACE - Her sisters and the other nuns at the convent described her as having an "angelic expression" with "heavenly radiance". THE LIMITATIONS OF A PHOTOGRAPH - tells how many of the original photographs were almost destroyed (and some were) since they were deemed "defective". CELINE'S PAINTINGS - describes about the development of her sister Celine's artistic talents, and the portraits that she made of Tse. THE RETOUCHED PHOTOGRAPHS - about how many of the photos of Tse that are distributed have been retouched. PRAISE AND BLAME - describes what members of Tse's family and the nuns at the convent thought of Celine's portraits of Tse. It tells a little about how the devotional items (pictures, holy cards, statues etc) were distributed. 8,046,000 pictures of Tse were distributed in France from 1898-1915. During World War I, a great many soldiers, even those not particularly devout, carried her picture. An aviator painted her picture on the wings of his plane. OFFICIAL STATEMENTS ABOUT THE PHOTOGRAPHS - the Bishop of Lisieux examined the photographs and highly recommended Celine's drawing of Tse. THE PRESENT EDITION - outlines the efforts taken to present the photographs completely untouched and in their original size. Next, starts the section with the actual photos. Each photo has a very detailed description telling everything that is known about exactly when and w the photo was taken, the photographer, etc. This really helps bring the photos to life! T is a list of the chronological order in which the photos were taken followed by the pictures which I will briefly list. Many pictures have enlargements of a specific detail from within the picture (her face for example, or something that she is holding).
