Offered is a Photograph of Lt. Tenney Ross (also spelled Tenny) and a photo of the Ross residence in Lewiston, Ill. Lt Ross (1871--1960) Co.E 3rd U.S. Inf. "The Old Guard". Career Officer Indian Wars through WWI. Burried Arlington National Cemetary.Google searches show the following:1898 He was with 3rd U.S in Cuba. Participated in all the key battles including San Juan Hill and Santiago. In Sept. the 3rd Returned to Ft. Snelling Minn. On Oct 5th Co. E 3rd U.S. (Tenney's Co.) was engaged in the Battle of Sugar Point at the Leech Lake Indian Reservation with members of the Ojibwa tribe (Chippewa) This battle is considered the last of the Indian wars battles. Co. E recorded 7 killed, including its captain, and 16 wounded. Lt Ross was awarded the Silver Citation for the Indian wars medal for his gallantry. (Only 11 were awarded) Medic Oscar Burkard received the last Medal of Honor, for the Indian wars, at the same engagement. 1899--1902The 3rd U.S. was deployed in the Phillipines.1904Lt Ross was promoted to Captain and was assigned to the 7th U.S. Inf. at Ft. Leavenworth,Ka.WWIRoss, now a Col. is the Chief of Staff for the 79th U.S. Inf Division (Cross of Lorraine Div.) serving in Meuse--Argonne, France.
