George Woodruff's business card said "Reportive Photography for Reproduction" and a review of his work shows that thedescription was indeed true. He lived in the Greater Boston Area. In 1915 he was working for the New York Journal. His work extended into the 60's and included many notable events. His pictures were available via wire service for publication in various newspapers. He did a lot of magazine work particularly in the sports category. Naturally his work included commercial shoots for advertising. He documented experiments and processes for colleges and industries. A large and probably a good portion of his "bread and butter" work was the annual picture taking for camps, schools,and colleges. This was not individual portraiture but activity shots on the campus. I acquired these images over 25 years ago from an antique dealer / picker who purchased them read more
