Another "A" grade specimen. Chunky Golden Chatoyance abounds in this GEM. A Cabochon that is mostly Fiery Chatoyance--Sells Fast and for good Money-check and see. This top specimen is extremely dense and littered with Golden Fire with a little bit of red swirled in for good measure. Alot of Gem for Not alot of Money Every gram of this material is useable. I amke sure of that. Plenty of the Pietersite that comes ends up scattered about the cutting room floor (this please my wife to no end). What YOU Buy-->You can use. No wasted time, no wasted effort and no excess waste!--the way it should be. This GEM apx. 3 1/2"+ by 2 1/2"+ and is about 1 3/4" thick. The shape is irregular. It weighs 394 grams. Pietersite is a mineralogical pseudomorph. It begins its geological life as the esoteric mineral Torkendrite (Crocidolite for the Namibian variety). Then over the eons the Torkendrikite is replaced, molecule by molecule with silica. However the original crystalline structure of the Torkendrikite is retained. That's w the lovely patterns and chatoyancy come from. Trace minerals add the color. Sometimes brutal geological process brecciate this material. It is then re-cemented together under great heat and pressure with more silica. Brecciated specimens display a chaotic jumble of colors and shapes. Not much Pietersite being mined anymore, only one mine in Hunan, China and output their is sporadic. The political situation in Namibia precludes any export of this material. T are 4 general varieties of this material. The first is sometimes referred to Wavy Weave-this shows gently swirling patterns of color and chatoyancy. The second is Brecciated-this shows very distinct brecciation, jumbled up chaotic patterns of various colors and chatoyancy. The third is White Quartz Matrix-pretty scarce---this material is mostly milky white quartz with Pietersite distributed in the matrix. It can make for some highly specimens. The last variety exhibits some combination of the first 3. The most common color for this mineral is is Gold, followed by Gold and Red and the scarcest is Blue. True single color specimens are very uncommon. YOUR Satisfaction is Guaranteed. That's the priority If you are not happy for ANY reason, I will refund your ourchase price AND shipping costs-BOTH ways! You can'y lose. Thank You for looking, I do appreciate it and check out my other listings if you like. Jerry
