Offered here for sale :a fine, genuine, vintage circa 1940s American Indian made art pottery vase with carved and glazed Deco geometric decoration hand crafted and signed by Ella Irving at the Pine Ridge Pottery of South Dakota. Age : probably circa 1940. Condition : Very Good, some minor wear, scratches and expected minor firing flaws. There isome slight discoloration under the glaze, visible in the lighter panel area and on the rim. This may be either from moisture stains or flaws or impurities in the original glazing process . Size : measures about 3-1/2 inches tall by 3-3/4 inches wide across the middle. Marks/Signatures : hand incised marks on bottom read, " Pine Ridge E. Woody Sioux Indian " with the symbol of a tree and hill . Other Details : The artist / potter of this piece, Ella Irving is said to have marked her pieces " Woody " between the years 1939 and 1942, when she was using her married name.
